A long week full of big decisions.
Wow, what a long week. We are so thankful to finally have Mom settled here at Mulberry. If it weren’t for the wonderful people here, I don’t know how we would have gotten through all of the medical mumbo-jumbo that was quickly laid in front of us over this past week.
For a while now, we have been worried about Mom living alone at home. She wasn’t eating well, taking her medications correctly and had even fallen a few times – but thankfully nothing too serious. So when her “it’s just a little cold” turned into pneumonia – she had to be admitted into the hospital.
Finally on the road to recovery.
Thankfully, her antibiotics kicked in and the pneumonia was getting better. However, because she had been sick for so long, she needed some extra care before possibly being able to return home. That’s when all of the medical mumbo-jumbo started.
We really didn’t know the difference between long-term care (other than the word nursing home gave us chills), rehabilitation care, assisted living or independent living – but Mulberry helped us understand it all.
Just about everything in one place.
The word nursing home was like a death sentence for Mom, however, it was reassuring to her (and us) to find out that the days when people entered a nursing home and stayed until their death are really becoming a thing of the past.
